For almost twenty years, Margot was a member of the Women's Architectural League Foundation  (WALF) and attended the various programs and tours of  Chicago area buildings.    WALF  provides scholarships to architecture students.  

WALF wishes to express our deepest sympathy to all of Margot's family.

I was sad to read about Margot Stern's passing. She was my typing and steno teacher at Lakeview. She was as kind as she was beautiful. I even asked her to sign my yearbook when I graduated.  54 years later and she's still a part of my wonderful high school memories.


Mrs. Stern was my homeroom teacher from 1961- 1965. She was a wonderful teacher and person. She used to practice the piano while helping me in a Tudor session. 

To the Stern Family,

I remember Margot as being  an active member of The Women's Architectural League Foundation (WALF)  since 2005.   She enjoyed attending our various architectural tours.  In her later years,  Margot would  bring her cane/chair to each tour.  I fondly remember Margot and send sincere sympathy and caring thoughts to all the Stern family.

I met Margo fifty-five years ago when I was student teaching at Lakeview High School. We and some other seasoned faculty ate lunch together. Margo  made me feel very welcomed. Just as said in her obit she was an amazing and kind person, also smart, funny and artistic. She even cared enough to fix me up with a good friend of hers and her husband's, a cardiologist no less.  Even though our paths never crossed since those days many years ago, I never forgot her, and was so saddened to learn of her death.

Dear Amy, and family, words cannot describe how I felt about your mother. Maybe because she was so much like our mother with her sweet, caring ways.  She accomplished so much in her life, family, and spiritually.  And she was funny and protective.  I remember when you, Amy,  met Steve and your mom flew out to visit Steve and our family.  She laughed out loud and said “I was just checking you all out.”😉😄  She said she was so happy and that she loved us all so very much.  That’s Margot, our guardian Angel whose love and footprints will forever be embedded in our hearts for all eternity❣️🙏🏻💞

Mrs. Stern was my home-room teacher for four years in the 60s. She was "mom" to our unruly class, making sure we were well-informed and helping us with whatever problem we had  so we'd make it through the day.
   The last time I saw her was on graduation day. I stopped by to say bye to her and I broke out in tears, something I hadn't during most of my time at Lake View.  I knew we were on our own from that day.
    She was a wonderful person. I wish the best to her children and grandchildren.

We will miss our dear, sweet, loving cousin Margot.
