Pauline "Polly" Werbner Deutelbaum passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Feb 2, at age 99. She was the beloved wife of 68 years to James "Jim"; dedicated sister to Carolyn (Kaye) Haas; dear sister-in-law to Howard Haas, Juliette Grauer and Florence Gavin; devoted mom to Wendy (Dee) Deutelbaum, Jill (Roger) Giller and Judy (Richard) Kern; loving grandmother to Daniel (Nichole) Giller, Emily (Michael) Stern, and Andrew (Adina) Kern-Goldberger; loyal aunt to Myron (Grazy) Grauer, Jody (Ross) Wolfson, Jonathan (Anna) Haas, Ellen (Lloyd) Tullos and Marshall Gavin.
She was born in Linton, IN, went to Hyde Park High School in Chicago, and attended Northwestern University where she was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority, a major in English with a lifelong passion for literature and the arts. She wholeheartedly supported her father's and husband's men's clothing family business, Werbner's, at the four corners area in Chicago. Her dedication to Chicago Sinai Congregation was livelong. Her friendships were lifelong. She was ever curious about the changing world - its politics, social conditions, and ethics. She held her friends and family in a close circle of love.
Service is Private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in remembrance of Polly Deutelbaum may be sent to Chicago Sinai Congregation, 15 W Delaware Pl, Chicago, IL 60610.
