Sandra Cain nee Shatten of Chicago, Illinois passed away peacefully at her home, on August 4th, 2023. She was born on November 20, 1936 and was a devoted mother to Bobbi Brown Plofker, Michael Brown (deceased), and Linda Arrandt. Sandy is also survived by her loving sister Alice Goodman, and her grandchildren Dylan, Dakota, and Duke Plofker; Jake, Zack, and Sydney Arrandt; Samantha Shuler, and great-granddaughter Lily James Plofker. Sandra is preceded in death by her spouses Bert Cain and Norton Mann and her beloved parents Sam and Minnie Shatten.
Sandy dedicated herself to being a devoted homemaker, a loving and nurturing mother, and cherished her role as a grandmother. She found joy in her creative side, knitting scarves, scrapbooking, playing rummy cube, and photography. These hobbies filled her heart with great joy and deep satisfaction. She cherished the time spent with her loved ones, and kept numerous photographs of them all over her home.
A ceremony to celebrate Sandy’s life will be held Tuesday, August 8, 10AM at Weinstein and Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd Wilmette, Illinois 60091. Interment private. The family will be gathering at Max and Benny's, 461 Waukegan Rd, Northbrook, Illinois 60062, on Tuesday from 4PM - 8PM to receive condolences.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to be made to The Ark Chicago, a foundation supporting the Chicago Jewish community. Sandy’s supportive and generous legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace.
