
Sheldon J. Sternberg, 92, of Lincolnshire, IL, formerly of Wilmette, IL, and Palm Desert, CA. Beloved husband of Elaine (nee Oscherwitz); son of the late Isadore and the late Anne Sternberg, and brother of the late Betty Balkin. Adored patriarch and father of Michael Sternberg (Rebecca), Susan Berger Kabaker (William), Nancy Kushner (Robert) and David Sternberg (Rachel); devoted grandfather of Philip (Catherine Reitman) Sternberg, Daniel (Alli) Sternberg, Matthew (Erin) Sternberg, Elizabeth Sternberg, Laura, Annie and Allison Berger, Sarah (Jeremy) Ahto, Steven (Allyson) Kushner and Andrew, Abby and Jason Sternberg; step-grandchildren Karen Wilbert (Douglas), Emma and Zoe Weiss; great-grandchildren Carter and Harper Ahto; Jackson, Eli and Miles Sternberg and step-great-grandchildren Marissa and Olivia Wilbert. A veteran of World War II, he was a navigator and member of the 390th Bomb Group. Founding member of Congregation Rodfei Shalom in Chicago. President of Best's Kosher Sausage Company, family-owned for over 100 years. He was the quintessential Cubs fan who loved books, golf, bridge, news, politics, dogs and most of all family. He will be terribly missed, but will live on in this incredible family he leaves behind. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 12, 1:30 p.m., at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd., Wilmette, IL 60091. Interment will be at Westlawn Cemetery.
