Arthur James Diaz was a man of charisma and wit, not to mention having a warm and welcoming nature that made him unforgettable in the minds of so many. He always had an ear to listen and a heart to help, offering great advice that was backed with his confidence and encouragement to go forward and get things done; “everything would be alright,” he’d say, “if you put in the work and were brave enough to push on through.” He never felt sorry for himself, he was selfless and looked out for the other person first, and he liked to be social and available to be a true friend and supporter or even just to make you laugh. Arthur was a dedicated second son to Reymundo Diaz (pre-deceased) and Virginia Pacheco-Diaz, was a caring brother to Raymund A. Diaz Jr. (Teresa), Larry V. Diaz, Robert Diaz, and his only sister Rosemary Diaz-Gonzales, was a generous and supportive father “Da” to his only daughter Rhiannon Diaz “Ba” and was a very devoted uncle to his accomplished nieces and nephews of whom he was so proud, loved deeply, lent guidance and really enjoyed spending his time with, Lauren R. Gonzales, Rosemary Diaz-Kuhnert (Andreas), Raymund Diaz III (Michele), Laura Diaz (Robert), Eileen Diaz, Anthony Diaz along with his great-nieces and great-nephew Kiera L. Griffin, Mya Villareyes and Eric Hernandez. He was blessed with the happiness of being close to his numerous loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends that were so much more than friends, but were truly family to him along with his many great Loves in life with whom he shared close, great, lasting bonds as well. He shared without limits in his love, his life, his passions, his brilliant mind and his tremendous Lion’s Heart with those of us who were blessed to know him and share with him in his life’s journey. His life was also enriched by attending Phineas Banning High School class of 1969 graduating with Honors, completing his Associate of Arts degree with focus in Business at L.A. Harbor College, serving as a brave Army Vietnam Veteran of the 82nd Airborne Paratroopers 1970-1972, a true blue L.A.P.D. Officer, and a proud business owner who happily made A D Tires his home away from home for 28 successful years where he loved to be of service to his community and enjoy the company of his many longtime clientele, many of whom also became lifelong friends. Art was one of a kind in every sense of the phrase and he passed on his legacy of being strong, confident and self-assured in the face of any obstacle to all he met and knew. As the man himself would say, “You can’t hurt steel, you can rust the hell out of it, but not hurt it.” We are, each of us, stronger and better for knowing you, Art. Thank you for being YOU!!!
