

Elisa “Ely” Tupas Sanchez, 82, of Carson, California, known to her friends as “Honey”, died at home surrounded by family on January 11, 2026. Born in Manila, Philippines in 1943, to Ernesto Tupas and Gloria Alonso, she spent her childhood in San Juan, enjoying climbing trees for fruit. With the early passing of her mother, Honey became the provider for her younger siblings. She earned a B.S. in electrical engineering in 1964 from Polytechnic University of the Philippines, only the 5th woman at the time to hold the degree in the Philippines. She cherished lifelong friendships, and was known as a demure, tall, sweet, and brilliant woman, fiercely devoted to her family, and a fantastic cook. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill, and sister Edith, and survived by her children Larry, his wife Jenny, and Gemi and her partner Thomas; her siblings George, Evelyn, Eleanor, and Ernest, and a host of beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A wake & vigil will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Wilmington, located at 1640 North Avalon Blvd, Wilmington, CA 90744, on January 28, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The funeral service will take place at St. Philomena Church, 21900 Main St, Carson, CA 90745, on January 29, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Following the service, a graveside ceremony will be conducted at All Souls Cemetery & Mortuary, 4400 Cherry Ave, Long Beach, CA 90807, on January 29, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Elisa will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
