

She was born January 22, 1922 in Okalona, MS to the late Benjamin Franklin Cooper, Sr. and Mable McCarty Cooper. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years George Russell Batchelor, two daughters Dianne Batchelor Rogers and Joan Russell Batchelor, a sister Eunice Cooper and three brothers Ben Cooper, John Cooper, and Earl Cooper.
She is survived by her daughter, Alice Batchelor Gore and husband Jesse (Bubba); son, Philip Batchelor and wife Donna; grandchildren Woody Rogers, Renee Rogers, Alice Rogers, Amy Raffaldt ,Laura Gore, Michale Davis and Jessica Davis; five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Alice worked at DuPont and retired with 30 years of service. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Her passion outside of work was spending time gardening and planting flowers in the yard with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother of three generations. She will be remembered by family and friends for always having a smile on her face and saying “when are you coming back.”
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Coble Ward- Smith Funeral Service and the Funeral Service will be on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 1:00pm at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Oleander Chapel. Interment to follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation 1414 Physicians Dr. Wilmington, NC 28401.
The family would like to thank the Hospice Staff and her sitters for all of their care, love and support over the last few years.
