

Benjamin Frank Stephens, 82, of Scotts Hill, NC, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. He was born March 12, 1936, in Durham, NC, to the late Benjamin F. and Lucille Willett Stephens. Big Ben, as he liked to be called, was a Veteran who served in the U.S. Army in the Korean and Vietnam War in the 82nd Airborne and Special Forces. He retired from General Electric in 2001. Ben and his wife Marilyn, are members of Scotts Hill Baptist Church. If he was not spending time with his family or friends, then you could find him fishing or maintaining his beautifully landscaped yard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William (Gary) Stephens.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn H. Stephens; daughters, Deana S. Kiser and husband Michael and Christina M. Stephens; daughter-in-law, Patricia R. Stephens; grandchildren, Elizabeth S. Wallace and husband Patrick, Makinzie J. Causey, Jaycie A. Causey, Clarissa B. Kiser and Mia G. Kiser; sisters, Barbara Belanger and Margie Branton.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2018, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel 4108 S. College Road.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Scotts Hill Baptist Church, 185 Scotts Hill Loop Road. Committal, with military honors, will take place following the church service at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
