Betty Tate Bridges passed away peacefully on the afternoon of July 24, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear Lifecare. Betty was born on April 20, 1930, to Coreda and William Tate in Wilmington, NC at James Walker Hospital.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Douglas Bridges.
Betty is survived by her three children, Steve Bridges and wife Brenda Richardson, David Bridges and wife Allison, Dianne Raynor and husband Jimmy; nine grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty was a loving, caring, and passionate person who loved her family deeply. She was loved by all who knew her. She loved crocheting blankets and other items and would always make a blanket for anyone she knew who had just given birth to a newborn; she also loved playing the lottery scratch-offs.
She will be missed by all who know her but the memory of her compassion and loving will live on forever.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11am on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Oleander Memorial Gardens with Pastor Russ Nanney officiating.
A special thanks to Jackie Bell who was Betty’s long term care giver, as well as her friends who would often come to see her. A special thanks also to her daughter-in-law, Brenda Richardson, with whom she lived during the last few years. They loved each other like a mother and daughter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Center or Harbor Methodist Church.
