Charles Foster Askey

Charles Foster Askey, 85, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2021 at Davis Health Care Center in Wilmington, NC. He was the beloved husband of Gwendolyn Ford Askey.  They were happily married for 62 years.

Charles was born March 29, 1936 in Williamsport, PA, the son of Lawrence and Joy Askey (deceased).  He graduated from high school in 1954.  He joined the Navy in 1954 and served for 4 years.  In 1958 he began his long career with IBM.  He made lifelong friendships with many of his IBM coworkers. He retired from IBM in 1992 and moved to Hampstead, NC to relax and play golf.  Along with his love for golf, he was a black belt in karate and a marathon runner.

He was an adoring dad, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Gwendolyn Ford Askey, son Greg Askey (Barrie), daughter Vicki Askey, daughter Pam Stocker (Mike) and son Jonathan Askey (Lisa). He has 3 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Jim Askey and Duane Askey.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 23, 2021 at 2:00pm at Duplin Country Club, 148 Duplin Country Club Road, Kenansville, NC 28349, 910-290-9029.
