Charles "Chick" Young

Chick graduated in 1961 from Penn State University with an Engineering degree. He was a brother of Delta Upsilon Fraternity and served as their social chairman. Chick served in the United States Air Force. He worked in telecommunications for 28 years, working his way up to an executive position. He was also on the Board of Directors of the Willie Stargell Foundation and spent many years doing charity golf tournaments.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Martha (Marty) Kerr Young; son, Charles M. Young, Jr and wife Rebecca of Cary, NC; daughter, Elizabeth Young Thompson and husband Burwell, Jr. of Corsicana, TX; grandchildren, Charles M. Young, III, Patricia K. Young, Thomas W. Young, Isobel K. Thompson, and Burwell J. Thompson, III.

A visitation will be held Monday, January 21, 2013 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 11:00am at Coble Ward-Smith, Oleander Chapel. Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Charles M. Young, III, Thomas W. Young, Burwell J. Thompson, III, Brian Hepler, Phillip Maginnes and Adam Cardin.

In lieu of flowers, Chick requested that donations be made to The Willie Stargell Foundation, 1213 Culbreth Drive, Wilmington, NC 28405.
