

Charles Mick Ramsey, Sr., ?Mickey?, 79, died before dawn on June 7, 2010 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center. Mickey was born on September 17, 1930 in Wilmington, NC to the late Blanche Hewett Ramsey and Charles Albert Ramsey. He was a self taught welder, reaching Master Welder status, working on the movie set for Super Mario Brothers in the early 90?s. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing, family cookouts and most of all making people laugh. He was an honorary member of Harrison Creek Hunting Club and also served with the Myrtle Grove Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years, earning the rank of Lieutenant. Mickey is survived by his daughters, Teila Ramsey Harriott John and Michell Ramsey Ellers, and son Charles Mick Ramsey, Jr. Linda; his grandchildren, Jennifer Harriott Ellis Patrick, Patricia Harriott, Amanda Harriott, Justin Ellers and Kevin Smith and his great grandchildren, Kobe Ellis, Alexis Jencks, Gage Jencks, and Hollin Ellers. He is also survived by sisters, Mildred Ramsey McGirt and Marjorie Ramsey CurtisHobart and a host of nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Joyce Ramsey Vereen, Louise Ramsey Creech , a brother Donald Ray Ramsey and an infant son. The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to all the staff at the Hospice Care Center, New Hanover Regional Medical Center and his many doctors. Memorial services will be held at 6 PM Friday, June 11, 2010 at Wrightsville Avenue Church of God, 2020 Castle Street. The family will be accepting visitors 1 hour prior to the service.
