

Charlie Edwin Willis, 83, of Wilmington, died Thursday, April 17, 2014, at North Chase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born July 25, 1930, in Sampson County, NC to the late Charlie S. Willis and Lena Riley Willis. Charlie worked with Riverside Apts for many years before being employed by Terry Turner Builders. After retiring, he loved to fish. He also enjoyed feeding and watching his birds behind his house. His most dear friends were Carl and Inez Sanders and their son Billy. They treated him as a part of the family. He was always at Sunday dinners and all holidays. He will be truly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Charlie E. Willis, Jr. and Johnny L. Willis and siblings, Nathan Willis (Jean), Annie Parker (Tom "Shorty"), Rachel Godwin (Pat), Labron Willis (Annie Jane), John Naham Willis, Aaron Willis (Juanita) and David Willis . Survivors include three daughters, Jo Ann Blanton (Mack), Sandra Santiago (Richard) and Sue Ellen Jones (Richard); nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and another on the way. The family will receive visitors from 4-6pm, Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. A graveside service will take place at 11am, Monday, April 21, 2014, at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
