Costas was born on March 6, 1939, in Asheville, North Carolina to Vassilios (Bill) and Chrisanthia Tchouros. As a child he moved with his family to Wilmington, North Carolina.
At 16 years old he asked a girl named Jane to a dance and their story began; he married that high school sweetheart. They were married for 67 years and had a lifetime of adventures together. Anyone that caught him watching her knew how deeply he adored her. He truly loved making her happy. He found so much joy in the family they made together and watching it grow. His grandchildren captured his heart from the beginning and that only multiplied as great-grandchildren came along.
He attended North Carolina State University and graduated in 1961 with a chemical engineering degree. He retired from WR Grace and Co. as President of Trinidad Operations. After "retiring" he owned and operated Kelly Plumbing until his second retirement.
Costas was always most content riding out on his boat into the morning mist on calm waters. Many learned the skill of fishing under his guidance and created lifetime memories. He leaves behind a legacy of tight lines and a roaring, "Fish On!" His day was perfectly rounded out with his people by his side, and laughter and stories flowing.
He is survived by his wife, Jane, and their two sons: Billy (Judy) and Pete (Diane). He also leaves behind six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Mazie Morrisey for her exceptional caregiving and Lower Cape Fear Life Care for the comfort provided to Costas and his family.
Services will be held at 12 PM on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Andrews Mortuary 1617 Market Street, Wilmington. Visitation will be held from 11 AM -12 PM. Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens, Wilmington.
Please leave condolences for the family on the guestbook.
