Dear Elizabeth,
      My heart is aching for you as you mourn the death of your mother.  May the good memories help you through the days and years ahead.  I can picture your family times at Wrightsville Beach from all the wonderful (and some very hilarious) stories that you have shared through the years.
       One of my favorite sayings is that “a mother is with us always; first in her lifetime and then forever in our hearts.”  May your Mama rest in peace . . . I’m sure the angels guided her right up to heaven by your Daddy’s side.

There are no words to express how it feels to lose your Mama. I am so sorry for the pain this loss inflicts and have the family in my heart and prayers. 
I have known Mrs Davis for nearly 50 years and know she was a great cook and a fun lady that loved with her whole heart. Life will be so different for the family now that she has gone to spend eternity in heaven with her beloved Ed.  Happy that she is whole again and free from pain and suffering.

Your momma was such an amazing lady with a heart of gold. She had such inner strength and boy could she cook! I know you will miss her dearly every day of your life, but she is within all her children and will watch over you from heaven. Love to all, Lori & Charlie

Beautiful lady.   I remember Aunt Delarene and Uncle Ed coming to Rocky Mount and we would go pick butterbeans and Peas at Batchelor Farms near Sandy Cross.  We loved going to Wrightsville Beach and seeing them.  Aunt Delarene loved all her nieces and nephews, especially her great nephew Paul!!!

Nothing can prepare you for losing your Mama.  Her pain has ended but a new hurt has begun for the people who loved her.  A few of my favorite childhood memories involve her.  I remember being at your house on North Channel Drive over 50 years ago.   Uncle James, Aunt Nonnie, Wanda & Larry were also there that day.  Aunt Delarene packed us all in the station wagon and we hit the beach.  I remember us all going down the beach with Aunt Delarene in the lead.   I remember her turning around and telling us to stay up before we got with the wrong tribe.  Later we all went to the Fort Fisher museum.   What a day that was.
Aunt Delarene was never a one to be at a loss for words.   I sat next to her at Aunt Nonnie's funeral,  this was just after she had lost her leg.  I didn't know what to say to her,  and I think she knew it.  She leaned over to me and said ''Betty, I can still kick ass, I just have to sit down to do it!''  What a wonderful attitude she had.  She was one tough lady with a heart of pure gold.  I have and will love her always.
