

Dianne Thornal Yopp passed away on Monday, September 3, 2012. She was born February 27, 1946 in Rocky Mount, NC, to Katie Woodard, and the late George Thornal. At the age of eight, she already knew God’s will for her life’s work. She graduated from New Hanover High School in 1964.
She attended the Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1967. She started her career at New Hanover Memorial Hospital. Soon after, she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart on December 20, 1968. Moving to Charlotte, NC, she continued her career at Presbyterian Hospital. She later worked in the ICU and Cardiac Care at Charlotte Memorial Hospital. Returning to Wilmington, NC in 1976, she resumed her duties at New Hanover Memorial Hospital. She served the Lord for 47 years with love and compassion to the ailing. After her retirement, she volunteered at the Tileston Clinic now called the Cape Fear Clinic.
She is survived by her beloved husband, John A. Yopp III; mother, Katie Woodard Ussery; sister, Linda Burrell; daughters, Lorrie McIntyre and Alayne Santiago; and her grandchildren, Sabrina McIntyre, Antonio Santiago, Joshua McIntyre, Trinity McIntyre, and Johnny Santiago; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:30pm, on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service in Wilmington.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10:00am in the Chapel at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice at 1406 Physicians Drive Wilmington, NC 28401.
