

Don was born in Kinston NC on April 24, 1947 to Johnnie and Julia Jarman Turner.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cathy, who was the love of his life and best friend, two sons, Chad and wife Jennifer of Wake Forest and Brian and wife Alison of Raleigh. His greatest joy was his grandchildren, Julia Grace, Mollie Catherine, Erynn and James. He is also survived by his sister Mary Young of Wake Forest, brother Cecil (Al) Turner of Surf City, sister-in-law Mickie Turner of Jacksonville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don enlisted in the Navy and served proudly for 24 years, retiring as a Lt. Commander in the Medical Service Corp. After serving in the Navy, Don spent 21 years as CEO of Escambia Community Clinics in Pensacola FL, providing health care for the indigent and medically needy in the community. His expertise in Health Care was recognized throughout the state of Florida.
Prior to moving to Carolina Beach in March of 2015, he was an active member of Cokesbury UMC in Pensacola and upon moving to Carolina Beach, he joined St Paul's UMC, serving on the Board of Trustees and Liaison for Watchdogs at Murray Middle School.
Services at St Paul's UMC, Carolina Beach at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 16, with visitation one hour prior to service.
