Donald (Donnie) Zorn of Wilmington, North Carolina, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on July 2, 2022. Born March 29, 1942, in The Bronx, New York, Donnie was the son of David and Minnie Zorn, and brother of Ronnie, who preceded him in death.
Donnie and his wife, Marsha, shared a loving marriage and recently celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary in June of 2022. Their blended family includes Charlene Zorn, Carrie Leljadal (Jason), Brian Zorn (Alison), Dr. Ronnie Zorn, Jeff Zorn (Trudy), and Rachel Pomerantz. Donnie’s pride and joy in life were his grandchildren; Lynn Ray Jr., Michael Ray, Jeren Hernandez, Justin Zorn, Casey Zorn, Doria Schmidt, Isabel Zorn, Rylee McGirt, and Jack Zorn.
Donnie always lived life on his own terms. He spent the better part of his life as a proud New Yorker before moving to Wilmington, NC in 1997. Donnie was known for his sense of humor. He enjoyed making people laugh, and shocking them at the same time. Everyone who knew Donnie understood you never knew what to expect next.
He was a good friend to many people and was always ready to help. He was a proud ally of the LGBTQ community. He had a passion for feeding people, and food was his love language. He found great pleasure in antiquing, and had numerous collections throughout his family home. Donnie was well known for his sarcastic and sometimes offensive tee shirts, his fanny pack, and during the holidays, he loved to wear Christmas socks with his sandals, which became an inside family joke.
A Memorial will be held at a future date. Donnie regularly supported the local ASPCA, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to their cause.
