He was born July 21, 1944, to the late William and Margaret Donovan.
Edward was born in Brooklyn, NY and married Patricia Criscuolo. They lived in Middle Village, NY and later moved to Long Island. He had one son, Scott, who married Michelle and gave him his much loved grandsons Brady and Alex.
He was a NYC Patrolman and later worked as a Building Superintendent at a private boarding school. In 2004, he and his wife moved to Wilmington, NC. He became a very active volunteer for the Step Up For Soldiers Organization. He and his wife maintained the grounds of the Fallen Soldiers Memorial at the NC Armory for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Donovan; his son, Scott Donovan and wife Michelle; grandsons, Brady and Alex; his sister, Peggy Lefebvre and husband Jeffrey and niece, Nicole Lefebvre.
He will be remembered for his willingness to help others, his quick wit and his clever sarcasm.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm, Thursday, February 16, at Andrews Hampstead Chapel.
