Edward Stephen Lowell, 69, of Wilmington, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center. Edward was born March 15, 1940 in Wilmington, NC, son of Clementine Spooner Lowell and the late Edward Joseph Lowell. Mr. Lowell served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Sears after 24 years, and then worked with Harris Teeter for 11 years and Eagle Island for 5 years. He was a loving son, husband, father, and ""Opa"". In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Frieda Lowell; three children, Edward L. Lowell and wife, Elizabeth, of Hillsboro, NC, Renate Cooper and husband, David, of Leland, NC, and Sylvia Watson and husband, John, of Hampstead, NC; and six grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the home, any time after 1pm on Monday, March 16, 2009. A graveside service will be 1pm Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Oakdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
