

He was born in Louisville, KY on February 13th, 1942; the son of Edwin Charles Thieman Sr. and Dorothy Shade Thieman. In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by his son William C. Thieman “Bill”.
Ed proudly worked his entire career with Dupont. First as a chemical engineer, then moved up to his latest position in management of the Wilmington site. He also was fortunate to travel with the company to Wilmington, DE and Hamm, West Germany to live with his family for three years. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Louisville. He was an avid fan of the Louisville Cardinals, NASCAR and recently the Baltimore Ravens. His fun-loving, determined spirit and inquisitive mind will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife Janet Thieman with 57 years of marriage; his daughters; Patricia Hallman and Catherine Summerlin (James) of Wilmington, NC. Other survivors include his brothers; Thomas (Sharon) of Mendota Heights, MN, James (Bonita) of Louisville, KY and Mark Thieman (Theresa) of Newburgh, IN; and his sister Mary Victoria Trier (John) of Fort Myers, FL. His loving grandchildren, Rebecca (Mike), Stephanie, Elizabeth, Kaitlyn and Christopher Hallman; Bryton and Hunter Thieman, Samantha Summerlin and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11am on Monday, February 28th, 2022, at St. Mark Catholic Church; 1013 Eastwood Rd Wilmington, NC 28403 with Father Cesar Torres Martinez officiating.
A gathering of family and friends including refreshments will immediately follow the memorial mass at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd Wilmington, NC 28412.
