

She was born on October 18, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA. She is daughter of the late Mary Kulaga Wawrzacz and Joseph “Wolgast” Wawrzacz.
Eleanor was dedicated, hard working, and enjoyed helping other people. She was an active Girl Scout leader and a member of the VFW Women’s Auxillary for many years. She was a member of Saint Mark’s Catholic Church.
Including her parents, she is proceeded in death by her husband of 38 years, Sandford L. Ewing; Brothers, John Wolgast, Henry Wolgast, and Joseph Wolgast; Sisters, Helen Stefano and Dolores Toczylowski.
She is survived by her daughters, Catherine (Mike) Barger, Wilmington, NC, Barbara (Wardell) Brown, Hampstead, NC; Brother, Frank S. Wolgast, Sewell, NJ; loving grandchildren, Crysta Riker, Angella Hansen (Jarod), Andrew Barger (Kayla), LeeAnne Buckner (Tim), Stephen Barger, Michelle Barger; 7 great grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, cousins; and dear friend, Sharon Ostrander.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 18, 2013 between the hours of 11 AM and 1 PM at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held following the visitation at 1:30 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Boulevard, Wilmington NC 28412, with Father Bob Kus officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society, 2405 N. 23rd Street, Wilmington, NC, 28401.
