Elizabeth Chadwick Kornegay

A native of Pender County, she was the daughter of the late William and Flossie Croom Chadwick. She is also predeceased by her first husband, Herman Shepard Herring, Sr.; a daughter, Linda Joyce Herring; two brothers, Bill Chadwick and Frank Chadwick; two sisters, Doris Crow and Joanne Burroughs, along with an infant sister.

Mrs. Kornegay was a former housing manager, a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Paul W. Kornegay; a son, Herman S. Herring, Jr. and wife Brenda of Wilmington; a brother, Arthur Chadwick and wife Janie of Little River, SC; a sister, Lovie Lanier of Jacksonville, NC; a very special granddaughter Lauri Adams and husband William of Wilmington, NC; a granddaughter, Valarie Kornegay; two grandsons, Greg Herring and wife Cristi and Brian Herring and wife Kristina; 11 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Fred Kornegay; sister-in-law Doris Bordeaux and husband Marlon.

Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, April 12th, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington. Services will be officiated by Rev. David Woodhouse and Rev. Paul Waters. Family visitation will be held Monday, April 12, 2010 form 12-1:00 PM at Coble Ward Smith Funeral Home.

The family of Mrs. Kornegay would like to extend personal thanks to Dr. Kenneth Kotz; her Hospice home health nurse, Tammy; and the staff of Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
