

Lib was born on August 26, 1934 in Sampson County to Elvin Clifton and Lillie Smith Fields. She entered into eternal life on August 11, 2023.
She and her family moved to Fayetteville, NC, when she was 6 years old. She graduated from Massey Hill High School class of 1953 and later graduated from Highsmith Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. She worked as a nurse for 41 years, 32 of that spent at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She, her husband, and first son moved to Wilmington, NC in 1965. In 1966 they welcomed their second child.
Lib was an active member of St. Andrews Covenant Presbyterian Church where she was a member and past president of the Friendship Bible Class, served as a volunteer in the Church office, and was a moderator of a women’s circle for many years.
Lib loved to read and dance. She and her husband square danced for many years, traveling to square dance conventions in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Since retirement, she has enjoyed line dancing with her friends at the senior center. She and her husband loved to travel and saw almost all of the United States and several foreign countries.
Lib's husband Benjamin Randall Pusey preceded her in death in May of 2015. They were married for 54 years. She is survived by her two sons: Randall Craig Pusey, his wife Marie and their son Ben of Greenville, SC and son Matthew Alan Pusey, his wife Patty and their daughter Caitlin of Burgaw NC; and Sister-in-law Pat Fields of Turkey, NC along with a slew of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her three brothers: Lacy Elwood Fields of Clinton, James Elvin Fields of Turkey, and Robert Cary Fields of Clinton.
The family will receive visitors at 11am, Saturday, August 26, at St. Andrews Covenant Presbyterian church.
