Ellen was born in Wilmington, NC, on October 24, 1937, to Picket Lee Taylor and Nelda Simmons Taylor.
She attended New Hanover High School and graduated at the top of her class in 1955. Ellen worked at Bank of America for 30 years in various positions. She loved taking pictures of her family, tending her raised garden beds, working in her yard, and making sure everyone was well fed. Anyone leaving her home after a meal, always left with a “plate lunch” to enjoy later.
She loved her cat, Ellie, and referred to her as “Her Baby.”
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Picket and Nelda Taylor and her sister Mary Ann Taylor Brown. She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Douglas Lee Bayse, Sr.;son Douglas Lee Bayse, Jr., and wife, Traci; grandson Brian Thomas Bayse, and wife Cat; granddaughter Brooke Taylor Bayse and great-grandson RJ.
Her family will miss her immensely, but knows she now rests in the arms of Jesus, her Savior, and is free of all pain and suffering.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm, Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Crossway Chapel of Wilmington 3701 Princess Place Dr. Wilmington, NC., with a Funeral Service following at 2:00pm with Rev. Matt Moorehead officiating.
Burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens, Wilmington, NC
