Elmer Lucille White, 84, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, October 8, 2008, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center. Mrs. White was born July 22, 1924, in Hampstead, NC, daughter of the late John Shepard and Irene Yopp Shepard. Elmer was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Edwin B. White, Jr.; three daughters, Kathy Mullen and husband, Bob, Susan W. Harriss, and Lucretia Arnau; son, Eddie White; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Granny will be especially missed by Melanie, Katherine, and Hunter. The family will receive friends at Andrews Valley Chapel at 1:30pm Friday, October 10, 2008. A memorial service will follow at 2:30pm. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and the Cape Fear Hospital second floor staff for their love and care. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Elmer's memory to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
