

Elsie was born on March 14, 1937 in Lake Mary, Florida to her loving parents, the late Luther Elliott and the late Bertha Mae Bridgeman. She was the 2nd of 5 children.
She was class valedictorian.
Elsie was the mother of 7 children. She had 5 children with her first husband, Thomas A. Greenleaf. She had 2 children with her 2nd husband, Franklin D. Batten.
Elsie was a loving mother who raised her children with patience and discipline. She was a devoted, affectionate, selfless and nurturing mother. She also loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to travel being a Navy wife in both marriages. She loved church, and she loved working as a seamstress.
Her warmth, her infectious laugh, her smile, her independence and her loving nature will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her children: Joyce Jackson and her husband Gary, Mark Greenleaf and his wife Lisa, Kevin Greenleaf and fiancé Paula, Amy Pepevnik and her husband Jeff, and Amanda Pepevnik and her husband Karl; sister, Mildred McElhaney and brother, Henry Bridgeman. She had 22 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Franklin D. Batten. Her first husband Thomas A. Greenleaf. Her daughter Darlene Beth Rooney. Her son Thomas David Greenleaf. Her sister Frances Hasty and her brother Charles Bridgeman. Her son in law, David E. Rose.
She will be cherished for all our days till we are home again with her. Rest easy Mama. We love you.

The wake will be at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park from 6-8 pm on Thursday April 14, 2022, 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412.
Funeral Services will be held on Good Friday, April 15, 2022 at 11am at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Billy Batten officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
