Evangelist Dr. J. W. Long, Jr. of Wilmington, NC, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born in Morehead City, NC, September 28, 1938, to Jesse Long and Joyce Davis Long. He is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, the former Mary Lou Davis; his children, David (Janet), Randy (Lydia), Joel (Laurie), Paula Horsley (Clint), John (Jori), and Jess (LaVonda); his sisters, Bonnie Fulcher (Ed), and Sherry Long; his brothers, Gary (Flo), and Gregory (Lily); twenty grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Larry. He is survived by his aunts, Dorothy Mitchell and Myrtle Howland. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 at Grace Baptist Church, 1401 North College Road, Wilmington, NC. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, also at the church. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Peace Baptist Church's Missions Fund.
