Florence Cornelia Skipper

She was the widow of Claude “Pete” Skipper after 47 years of marriage. Mrs. Skipper was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family dearly.

Florence was the daughter of Martin Van Skipper, Sr. and Florence Potter Skipper. She is survived by her son, Alton Skipper of Leland; daughter, Claudia Dale of Kinston; sister, Eloise Potter of Greensboro, NC, grandchildren, Kimberly Culp and husband, Jeff, of Topsail Beach, NC, Angela McCarn and husband, Michael, of Florence, SC, Gregory Dale and Christen Dale of Kinston, NC; eight great-grandchildren, Trevor Sellers and Jeffrey McCarn of Florence, SC, Michael Thompson, Sean Dale, Triston Dale, Grace Dale, Chase Hall and Alisha Hall of Kinston, NC. She leaves behind some dear friends and special caregivers.

She is preceded in death by Faith Dale, a great-grandchild, and nine brothers and sisters.

A Funeral Service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 28, 2011 in the chapel of Coble Ward-Smith, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC followed by interment in Oleander Memorial Gardens, officiated by Rev. Dan Bennett and Rev. William Pearsall. Also assisting as pallbearers will be Glenn Potter, Murray Mintz, Jimmy Thompson, Dennis Skipper, James Henderson, and Gene Skipper. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Coble Ward-Smith.
