Gertrude C. Stewart

Gertrude Stewart Gertrude C. Stewart passed into her heavenly home Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehab Center after several years of declining health. She was born in New Hanover County, June 30, 1920, to her parents, Samual Frank Robinson and Mary Hewett Robinson. Her husband, Willie Albert Stewart, one brother and four sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by three children, Pat King Roy, Billy Hughes Patricia and Johnny Hughes; five grandchildren, Jeff Shepherd Melissa, Trevor Hughes Melissa, Allen Hughes Brandy, Frankie Hughes Lisa and Sherrie Storms Wesley; seven great-grandchildren; four nieces, Mary Frazier of Wilmington, Verta Blake of Chesterfield, VA, Jeanette Wolfe of Wilmington and Joyce Saunders of Bennettsville, SC; and two nephews, Dale Robinson of Columbia, SC and Bill Branner of Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Friday, July 29, 2011 at Andrews Market Street chapel. A funeral service will be 11:00am Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Arnold Griffin and Rev. Matthew Griffin officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank the staff for the loving care she received at Liberty Commons by her nurses and aides.
