James Anthony Sellers

He was born in Lumberton, North Carolina on August 24, 1955, to the late James Howard Sellers and Kathleen Hayes Sellers.  He was a devoted family man and loved being around his friends. His warm smile, kind words and big heart brought happiness to many.  He loved being a girl dad, cooking for his buddies, making up recipes and being surrounded by those he loved, but his most favorite thing of all was giving to others.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Sellers; his two sisters, Peggy Mobley and Jane Morgan, her husband Haywood, his daughters Heather Deutschle, and her husband Kyle, and Katie Smith and her husband Jared.

His most cherished role was being a grandaddy, he was their “macho man”.  He had 5 grandchildren, Maryjane Deutschle, Anna Deutschle, Sophie Deutschle, Willow Smith, and his one and only grandson, Wyatt Smith. Each one held a special place in his heart.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday May 13, 2023, at Pine Valley Baptist Church, 3940 Shipyard Boulevard, Wilmington, NC 28409. In Lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations in Anthony’s memory be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Wilmington or a charity or your choice.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Family’s home following the Funeral Service, 4201 Whitehurst Drive, Wilmington, NC, 28409
