

He was born on January 12, 1960 in Wilmington, N.C. and was raised in the Riegelwood and Delco areas of Columbus County. He was the son of the late Cleon Fowler and Yvonne Bullock Fowler.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Isaac Lee Fowler and Katie Wright Fowler. He was also predeceased by his maternal grandparents, whom he was especially close to, James Wiley Bullock, Jr. ("Jim") and Esther Hobbs Bullock.
He is survived by one sister, Merry Esther Fowler Futch, and brother-in-law Ed Futch, of Riegelwood; one niece, Merry "Lauren" Futch, of Lancaster County, P.A.; two special cousins with whom he and his sister were raised alongside, John "Ashley" Bullock, Jr. and James "Wiley" Bullock II, and his wife Beverly and their two children, James and Malinda.
Jimmy graduated from Acme-Delco High School in 1978 as valedictorian of his graduating class. After completing high school, he went on to attend his mother's alma mater, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a member of Riegelwood Baptist Church, and raised in a strong Christian family. Whatever struggles he faced in life, he never lost his faith or belief in God. He loved traveling in his younger years, spending time with his family, and cheering for his UNC Tarheels in athletics.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Riegelwood Baptist Church with Dr. Edward Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Delco Cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am Tuesday at the church prior to the service and other times at the home of Merry Esther and Edgar Futch.
The family would like to express a special note of thanks to the entire staff at Brunswick Cove for their patient and loving care and especially to his favorite nurse, Linda.
