James Michael Gore I

James Michael Gore I (Mike), of Wilmington North Carolina went to be with his Lord on September 13, 2020. He passed away peacefully at home with his family. He is survived by the love of his life, wife Linda Gore; son James Michael Gore II., daughter Gina Gore (Mike), brother William Gore (Mary), and grandsons Austin Michael Gore and Kendrick Evan Gore.Mike was preceded in death by his parents William E. Gore and Flora A. Gore, brothers Sam Hand and John Hand, and sisters Zelma Piner and Zoe McMillion.

Mike was born in Jacksonville Florida on June 10 1950 but moved to Wilmington shortly thereafter where he lived for the rest of his life. He graduated from New Hanover High school in 1969 and soon after began working at the NC State Port where he worked for 40 years. Mike met his wife Linda in Sunday school at Sunset Park Baptist Church and they were married soon after and started their family. They were married for 43 years. He loved Jesus and it showed every day. Mike was a kind and selfless person that would give someone the shirt off of his back. He also loved to laugh and make others laugh to lighten their load. One of his favorite jokes to tell people was “How far can a dog run into the woods? .. halfway and then it’s running back out.” He was a very hardworking man and would do anything for his family.
