Jane Thomas

JK, as she was known to her friends, was born on October 31, 1970 in Charlotte, NC. She is the daughter of Simon Clayton Dixon and the late Harriett McLoud Dixon, both of Raleigh, NC.

JK grew up in Raleigh and attended Broughton High School before attending NC State University. She met and married her husband, John David Thomas, Jr. of 25 years, in Raleigh before moving to Wilmington where they have lived since. Their daughter, Cooper Gwen, was born in 2003 and is currently a student at NC State. For many years JK was a teacher at St. James Day School where she enjoyed countless hours of joy with her students and fellow teachers who were known as close friends.

JK is survived by her loving husband, David and her daughter, Cooper; her father, Simon and a sister, Gwen Williams. Everyone will always remember with love JK and her kind spirit including John David Thomas, Sr. and his wife, Sharon as well as the late Lynn Nelson along with many other family members and friends both in Wilmington and across the country.

A visitation will be held at Andrews Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market Street in Wilmington from 2-4pm, Friday, June 2.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Danny & Ron’s Rescue, a South Carolina dog rescue close to JK and her family’s heart.
