Jeanette Crawford Houston

Jeanette Crawford Houston, 89, of Sneads Ferry, NC, died Friday, October 14, 2011 at her residence. She was born on June 25, 1922 in Rhodes, IA, the daughter of the late Arthur Harvey Crawford and Lila Good Crawford. Mrs. Houston was a stenograper, secretary and office manager for the Army General Staff at the Pentagon. She was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church where she was involved with the Bible Study group. Mrs. Houston had a very strong will, devoutly studied the Bible, and lived her life by following the Bible and helping others. She will be remembered by her family as a devoted wife as well as a loving mother and grandmother. Surviving is her husband of fifty-nine years, Bill J. Houston; a daughter, Laura Jeannine Houston of Topsail Island, NC; four sons, Brian H. Houston and wife Caroline of Fairfax, VA, John S. Houston and wife Katherine of Cumming, GA, Sherman P. Houston and wife Siddiporn of Swansboro, NC, and Sam C. Houston of Frederick, MD; grandchildren, William, Stephanie, Isabella, Jonathan and Kristin; sister, Clara Lynn of Des Moines, IA. Also remembered is a son, William Houston and a brother, Arthur Crawford, both of who preceded her in death. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 pm Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Friday at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm in Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC. Memorials may be made to the Susan B.
