Jeanne Marie Miller, 38, of Leland, North Carolina went to be with our Lord on June 18, 2021. She fought a valiant fight with brain cancer for 5 years. Jeanne was born on July 2, 1982 in Toledo, Ohio to Bonnie Dannenberg and Robert Harwell, Sr. She was preceded in death by her sister, Christina (Harwell) Greene and her grandmother, Christine Bocanegra.
Jeanne received her Associates Degree in Emergency Medical Services from Northern Virginia Community College. She then went on to get her Bachelor’s Degree in Community Health Education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW). Prior to receiving her degree, she worked as a 911 operator for the City of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and then for UNCW. Her love for emergency medicine inspired her to become a Paramedic in both Richmond, Virginia and Wilmington, North Carolina. When her grandmother was diagnosed with cancer, Jeanne chose to take action and became involved in the Brunswick County Relay for Life campaign including Chairing the event before her own brain cancer made it no longer possible.
Jeanne’s love for the Lord started at a young age. She grew up in the United Church of Christ, where she regularly attended services and Sunday School with her family. She went on to attend church camp for 5 years and ultimately became a counselor there. In Wilmington, she attended Port City Community Church where she volunteered in the kids Grow Zone. Jeanne strived to pass on the faith to her daughter before the Lord took her home.
Jeanne is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Justin Miller; beautiful daughter Gracelyn; mother, Bonnie (Robert) Dannenberg of Fishers, IN; father, Robert Harwell of Lebanon, TN; brothers, Robert (Chasity) Harwell Jr of Hartsville, TN and Jonathan (Tabitha) Harwell of Greenwood, IN; step-brother, Nathan Dannenberg of Fort Wayne, IN; step-sister, Natalie Dannenberg of Chicago, IL; sister-in-law, Heather Miller of Wilmington, NC; and many extended family members that will greatly miss her.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the Port City Community Church, 250 Vision Drive, Wilmington, NC at 11am with Sgt. Lisa Kittrell (retired) presiding. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a college fund to be established for her daughter, Gracelyn.
