Jerry Neal Dyson, Sr.

Jerry Neal Dyson, Sr., 77, of the Wilmington area, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010. He was born in Whiteville, NC on January 12, 1933 to the late Ernest and Thelma Dyson. Jerry worked for Waccamaw Bank/UCB for 16 years, ending his banking career as Vice President-Branch Manager of the Riegelwood branch. His later retirement years were spent enjoying his passion for the outdoors by owning and operating Jerry's Lawn Service. His love for his Lord, Jesus Christ, and his family were obvious to all who knew him. His faith and strength under the most difficult of circumstances were an inspiration. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Strickland Dyson; his beloved children, Mary Susan Dyson McTighe, Jerry Neal Dyson, Jr., Vanessa Brooke Dyson, Joshua Earl Dyson, and step-daughter, Tammy Sorensen Black; beloved grandson, Anthony Sean McTighe; two brothers, Ernest Charles Dyson, and Kenneth Ray Dyson; four beloved step-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Rd., Wilmington. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be 11 am Thursday, January 28, 2010 at North Grove Evangelical Presbyterian Church at 7721 Alexander Road, Wilmington. Burial service afterwards for family and close friends will be in Whiteville Memorial Cemetery in Whiteville, NC. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Wilmington, NC.
