

He was born to Ernest Echo and Lillian Wharton Echo on May 12, 1933, in Baltimore, MD.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia R. Echo, his stepdaughter, Judy Slinger and the mother of his children, Jean Shepard Echo.
Survivors include his children, Jerri Echo (Rebecca Troye), Mary Echo, John Echo (Wendy) and William Echo; stepdaughter, Peggy Wald (Bob) and John’s companion of the last ten years, Ellen Singletary. He had 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He had a long career with 3M Corp. of St. Paul, MN who utilized his degrees in Physics and the Arts. He and Virginia retired to North Topsail Beach, the Hampstead and later Sneads Ferry. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War and later served in the Navy Reserves and Army Reserves. As a father, he taught his children well.
