Joe was predeceased by his wife Maxine Poole and daughter Therese Capps. He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Thomas and Donna Poole of Wilmington and daughter Kathy Williams of Rocky Point. Also surviving are his six grandchildren Tommy Poole Jr. (Jen), Sheliah Hooper (Chris), Rudy Capps lll (Angel), Matthew Capps, Nicole Marshburn and Paul Marshburn and 14 great grandchildren.
Joe enjoyed working in his yard and had a knack for growing plants. When not tending to the yard, he could be found in his wood shop. He had a great love for his family and his beloved dogs. He never knew a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Burial will be private.
