Judy Ellen Russo

Judy was born on August 27, 1950 to Mr. and Mrs. George Washington Wilkins.  She is survived by her loving husband, of over 50 years, Oscar Glenn Russo of Hampstead, NC; her children Travis (Maria Guadalupe Pacheco Tabarez) Russo of Mexicali, Baja California Norte and Darren (Kristen) Russo of Leland, NC; grandchildren:  Jace Goodwin, Darla Italy Garcia Pacheco; Judy Elaine Russo Pacheco Russo and Savannah Russo.  She’ll forever be remembered by her special nephew Matthew (Holly) Mercer and great niece Chloe Maye Mercer as well as niece Kim Turner. She is also loved and remembered by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear, life-long friends.

Judy was predeceased in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. George Washington Wilkins, her sister Audrey Elaine Underwood, and her niece Maye Melony Mercer Yarborough.

Judy was born at James Walker Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, NC. She grew up in Wilmington, NC and graduated New Hanover High School.  For over 21 years, Judy worked in the Wilmington District Attorney’s office, serving as a Victim Witness Legal Assistant and Docket Manager for Superior Court.

Judy was a fun spirited soul who took on many passions; including her love of the water and animals.  She found comfort and peace being near the water and loved living on the water.  One of her favorite places was the moho.  She also loved all animals and especially her sweet golden, Ruby.

Judy was a beautiful person inside and out. Her smile would light up the whole room. She cared so deeply for the people around her. She was so kind and passionate. She made an impact on many lives and she will be forever missed.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life on Monday, May 15 at Wrightsboro Baptist Church. Visitation at 10 AM followed by a service at 11 AM. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the New Hanover County Humane Society.
