

Julia Elizabeth Moore Parlier passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center. She was born April 15, 1920, the oldest daughter of George Allie Moore and Julia Biddle Moore. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Robert Mayes Moore, George Allie Moore Jr., Mary Lou Moore Mayer; and her husband, of 64 years, Rufus Gwyn Parlier.
Elizabeth was a 1938 graduate of New Hanover High School and attended Lees McRae College in Banner Elk, NC. Elizabeth worked as a Secretary for the District Attorney’s Office; Virginia-Carolina Chemical Corporation; and the North Carolina Ship Building Corporation Employment Office during WWII.
In 1941, she married her high school sweetheart Rufus and together they raised two children Elizabeth Gayle Parlier Harvey and Rufus Wayne Parlier.
In 1956, she began work beside her husband in the newly established Parlier Plumbing Company and continued until his retirement. During those years she did secretarial work for her church; was instrumental in the startup of the Long Leaf Hills Garden Club, and was a Cub Scout troop leader. Her proudest accomplishment was the 34 years she served as a Red Cross Nurse’s Aide volunteer at James Walker Memorial Hospital and later at NHRMC.
Her greatest life experiences were traveling, boating, fishing; and her favorite pastime clamming. She leaves behind her two children Gayle and Wayne; granddaughters Elizabeth Paige Powell Bowling and Lesley Anne Powell Borneman (Stan); great grandsons, Hunter Powell Marcum and Harry Stanton Borneman IV (Beau); and great granddaughter Logan Elizabeth Marcum; sister Eleanor Moore Coleman; and her precious Pug Frenchie.
Elizabeth’s hope was that she left some “Happy Tracks” along the way.
A graveside service will be held at 11am, Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
