Kathleen Veronica (Dolan) O'Connell

Kathleen Veronica (Dolan) O’Connell, 89, of Wilmington, passed away on Thursday, February 01, 2018 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Wilmington.  Born on November 14, 1928 in the Bronx, NY, she was daughter of the late Michael and Mary (McManus) Dolan.

Above all else, Kay loved her immediate and extended family and her Catholic faith.  As a parishioner of both St. Mary’s and Immaculate Conception RC Churches, she was involved in the Divine Mercy and Rosary Prayer Groups and administered communion as a Eucharistic Minister to hospital and homebound individuals.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Thomas Joseph O’Connell, her parents, and three brothers.  She is survived by two sisters, Margaret Kipp and Ann Kurtz and brother, Patrick Dolan.

She is also survived by her four children; Thomas Michael O’Connell, Sr. (Elyse) of Henderson, NV, Daniel Gerard O’Connell (Kathleen) of Port Jefferson Station, NY, Mary A. O’Connell of Ocala, FL, and Sean P. O’Connell of Wilmington; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 4-6PM on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Andrews Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Road.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 AM on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. John McGee, OSFS officiating.  Burial at Oleander Memorial Gardens will be private.
