Larry was born on November 5, 1948, in Wilmington to the late Harlie and Hattie Simmons. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Larry worked for Babcock & Wilcox as a boilermaker for ten years prior to being a Deputy Sheriff for New Hanover County for fifteen years. In addition to his parents Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn Marie Simmons.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sharon Schofill; son, Jason Simmons, and his wife, Audria of Burgaw; grandchildren, Zalen McCray Simmons, and Zarana Simmons.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2022, at 2 pm at the Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market Street, Wilmington, NC. Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
