

LaVerne Raymond Easton, age 93, passed away on March 8, with her family by her side. Born in Greene, Ohio, on April 27, 1931 to Marion Gibbs Raymond and Richard P. Raymond, LaVerne lived a life filled with exploration and an appreciation for the world around her.
LaVerne loved to travel and embrace the wonders of the United States and beyond enjoying the beauty of natural landscapes and the richness of different cultures. She loved to be outside, gardening, landscaping, and bird-watching. She Was Known for her engaging spirit, thirst for knowledge, and the sharing the stories of her life's adventures with her friends and family. LaVerne continued to learn, grow, and play her piano, even in the final days of her life.
LaVerne leaves behind her husband Alvin Easton, who shared 74 years of marriage together. Together, they built a family that became her greatest legacy. She is survived by her son, Arnold Easton, and her daughters, Marcia Futrelle (and husband Chuck), Maxine Easton (and Ronald Miller), and Jacqui Leiblein (and husband Eric). Her love and guidance extended to her nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, who carry forward her values and memories. LaVerne was predeceased in death by her daughter-in-law, Christine Botos Easton, her sister, Phyllis Hoffstetter, her daughter Kristina Easton, and her infant grandson Robbie Hansen.
LaVerne is also remembered fondly by her siblings, Glenn Raymond (wife May), Della Eltringham (husband Russell) and Gary Raymond, with whom she shared a lifetime of camaraderie.
Her family, friends, and all who knew her will remember LaVerne as a woman of grace, curiosity and warmth. She leaves behind a legacy of love and a reminder to cherish the natural beauty and endless wonders of our world.
A memorial service for Laverne will be held Sunday, April 27, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Coble Funeral & Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, North Carolina 28412.
