

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lonnie B. Williams Jr., who left us on March 15th, 2026, at the age of 69. He departed peacefully at his home in Wilmington, N.C. surrounded by his family.
Born on August 29th,1956 in Wilmington, N.C., Lonnie was the cherished child of Janice and Lonnie Williams. He was a true Wilmingtonian, spending all but 7 years of his life there building a family, career and circle of dear friends. He attended Winter Park Elementary School and Cape Fear Academy in Wilmington and graduated from undergraduate and law school at Wake Forest University. He practiced law with Marshall, Williams & Gorham for nearly 40 years, and enjoyed the latter years of his career as a sole proprietor.
Lonnie is survived by his wife of 40 years, Catherine Lee Williams, daughters Margaret Keasler (Drew) and Diana Johnson (Tyler), granddaughters Amelia Johnson, Virginia Keasler and Nora Johnson, and siblings Dr. Janice Murdoch (Larry) and Gary Williams (Janice) as well as extended family, friends, and a community that will forever remember his gentle spirit.
Lonnie was a beloved friend to many, trusted attorney, and dear husband, father, grandfather, and brother to his family. He was strong in his faith, his love of music, and his passion for Wake Forest athletics.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on March 19th, 2026, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel in Wilmington. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 AM. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by him are welcome to attend and celebrate Lonnie’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse or Lower Cape Fear Hospice in memory of Lonnie.
Lonnie will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
