Born September 29, 1930 in Freeland (Brunswick County, NC) to the late Louie Alton Blackman, Sr and Girlie King Blackman. He lived in Wilmington until moving to High Point 48 years ago.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Chevron after 30 plus years of service. He spent his retirement of 27 years actively involved with his family, most notably his grandchildren, who will remember him for his humor and kind heart.
Louie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Suzanne T. Blackman; two children, his son Louie Blackman III, his daughter Paige Blackman (David Katzenmeyer); five grandchildren, Matt (Kendall) Blackman, Sam (Erin) Blackman (mother Susan Hedgecock), Kelley Katzenmeyer, Krista Katzenmeyer, Kacey Katzenmeyer; great-grandchild, Weston Blackman; sisters-in-law Colleen Blackmon and Nancy Strickland; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Bennie Blackmon.
A graveside service is planned for 11am, July 9th, 2019 at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery, Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC.
