

She was preceded in death by her father, Louis Henderson Skinner, her mother, Carolyn Livingston Alexander Skinner, and her sister, Carolyn Skinner Greenfield.
She was born on October 18, 1936 in Alexandria, Virginia, and grew up in Mount Vernon. She graduated from Marymount College in 1957 and went to work at the Pentagon, where she met and fell in love with Barry Gordon. They married in 1959 upon his graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy and lived the Navy life until they settled in Greensboro, North Carolina to raise their family. She was the Director of the Carey Mangum Fine Art Gallery for many years, which was a job that she truly loved. They moved to Wilmington in 1991 and became involved in many clubs and organizations, including the National Society of Colonial Dames of America.
She was a woman loved by many, as she seemed to have an effect on everyone she met. She will be sorely missed by her husband of 57 years, Barry L. Gordon, and her three children, Karen Gordon Thompson, Pamela Gordon Poindexter, and Michael Lamar Gordon, her sons in law, F. Spruill Thompson, and Charles C. Poindexter, her daughter in law, Jasna R. Gordon, and her five grandchildren, Shepherd Thompson, Gordon Thompson, Chase Poindexter, Emma Poindexter, and Lexie Poindexter.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at St. Mark Catholic Church on Eastwood Road in Wilmington, which will be followed by a Reception at the Country Club of Landfall. There will be a private burial at the Kenan Chapel Memorial Garden.
