Mabel Marie Edwards Harden

Mabel Marie Edwards Harden, 86, of Wilmington, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at Carolina Medical Center, Charlotte, NC. Mabel was born December 20, 1921 in Brunswick County, NC, daughter of the late Wallace Bruce Edwards and Susan Cora Carlisle Edwards. Mrs. Harden was a member of College Acres Baptist Church. She was Past Matron, Cape Fear Chapter # 346 Order of the Eastern Star, Past President of United Daughters of the Confederacy, a member of the Brunswick County Historical Society, and she authored the book, ""A Tree Grew in Brunswick"", an Edwards family history. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Irvin Thomas Harden; two daughters, Annette Marie Harden Connor of Sumter, SC, and Jeanne Ellen Harden Yarboro of Shelby, NC; six grandchildren, James Lawrence Connor, Ty Harden Connor, Peter Thomas Connor, Allan Edwards Connor and wife, April, Jonathan Lane Yarboro and wife, Felicia, and Anna Marie Yarboro Ramsey and husband, David; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11am to 12 Noon Saturday, November 1, 2008, at College Acres Baptist Church. A graveside service will be 2pm Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Wilmington, with Rev. Jonathan Lane Yarboro officiating.
