She is survived by two children: Sherry A. Herman and Rayliene R. Stanfield; four stepchildren: Mitzi Webb and her husband Wendell Bayan, Air Force retired Colonel Mark Vlahos and his wife Julie, Army retired Lieutenant Colonel Kristen Shafer and her husband Kerry, Greg Vlahos and his wife Sandy; her nine grandchildren: Andrea Carter and her husband Nathan, Ryan Stanfield and his wife Winslow, Leigh Herman and her partner Reeves, David Webb and his life partner Shawn Hester, Ben Vlahos, Brooke Vlahos, Kyle Shafer, Beth Shafer, Haley Vlahos, her St Paul’s church family, and her beloved dog Snoopy, and great grand dog Ziggy.
She was a graduate of St. Mary’s seminary, JR College, and Saint Francis school of nursing. She worked in her profession as a nurse for 35 years and loved every minute as pediatric nurse and occupational health nurse.
She lived a full and varied life, enjoyed a great sense of humor and was always quick with a witty response to anything life brought her way. Her love for her children and grandchildren was unsurpassed, she always had time to be there for them for advice or to listen to anything they had to say.
She will be greatly missed by all of them, however, as she always said, “to live in the hearts of those we love we leave behind is not to die”.
