Miss Mary Malone Wootten died peacefully at Lower Cape Fear Hospice on Monday, October 5, 2015. She was 94 years of age. Miss Wootten was born in Wilmington on April 16, 1921, the third daughter of Ruth James and Edward Younge Wootten. A lifelong communicant of St. James Parish, Miss Wootten served for many years on the Altar Guild, in the Senior Choir, and as a faithful volunteer. She was also a proud honorary member of the Carolina Yacht Club. Miss Wootten is predeceased by her parents, a brother, Bradley Wootten, and two sisters, Leila Wootten Miller and Eliza Wootten Royder. She is survived by one brother, Edward (Ned) Wootten, several nieces and a nephew, and her beloved feline companions. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, October 9, 2015 at Oakdale Cemetery.
